The brief for the design was to open up the rear garden space, creating one large aesthetically pleasing useable area, requiring the swimming pool and outdoor entertaining spaces being linked visually to the house and pool outhouse.
The original older style shaped pool shell with swimout was kept with modifications including: raising part of the pool shell to meet with the raised decking area - change in level helped to create more interest to the overall landscape, new filtration and sanitation, new interior fully tiled, new light and totally new landscaped surrounds.
The feature of the landscape is the use of the natural Sawn Bluestone pool coping being templated and cut to the pool shape and surrounding paving with split-faced granite cobbles/sets incorporated to ground level, with Honed Bluestone stone to the raised retainer walls for the garden bed and plants - and is a great place to sit and talk to others, hang your towel and have a drink, bench seat(s)/day bed(s) as a contrast.
Merbau timber decking used for the raised pool deck area forms a link from the timber decking patio at the rear of the house, the timber floor of the pool outhouse and breaks up the large area. The raised feature wall to the decked pool area is clad with stack stone panels ‘Grampians’ from Eco Concepts. Garden lighting allows this outdoor entertaining area to be useable both day and night, as well as highlighting the features and planting of the landscape once the sun has set.
